HOW EVERYTHING STARTED?
MIA A IRIZARRY'S TRUE STORY
Born in the beautiful Caribbean island of Puerto Rico music is in my blood. Raised to the tropical sounds of Salsa, Bomba, Seises and Plena at 16 years old since 1998 I was already touring worldwide representing my country in International Folklore Festivals organized by the CIOFF every single year.
Joyful years of success after success in all areas of my life. Love, career, passions, adventures, accomplishments, recognitions, all unfolding in front of my eyes all throughout my early years of life. One day, I was offered the opportunity to relocate out of my country, and without a second thought, I took the opportunity on hand and gave myself a faithful chance … And that was the beginning of life taking a turn on me.
It was like bursting from a little bubble into a new world, a new world where on a daily basis I was hit with the realities of life. Everything went down spiral for me, from failures in my career, to romantic heartbreaks, challenges with my stage performances, mental, emotional, physical and spiritual deterioration, all of the sudden, little, by little, by little.
All at once, in a matter of months I found myself lonely, heartbroken, questioning my value, my worth, my purpose, and my existence overall. It started a pattern of indecisions, procrastination, and questionable motives of what I intended to create of myself and other in the world.
There still was something inside of me, a small light among the darkness, and it was my innate connection with my culture, my roots, my music and my traditions. That is when vision of TrendCulprit, Sarobey Clothing, Unfit Culture, and Out of Control Music where born.
They all started as independent ideas, only living in my mind where no one else could see nor understand them. Years went by, and only vestiges of those ideas where manifesting sporadically into reality. It was one of those things where the dream is so big and so ambitious that you feel that more needs to be learned and done before it can be constant and vivid in the world.
Then ... the brutal turning point.
I hit rock bottom in my own personal dissatisfaction with my whole self both inside and out. In the outside, my dissatisfaction with my physical looks, my appearance, my curly hair, my fair skin sensitivity to the sun, my moles, my blackheads life long problem, and my struggle to maintain a fit belly and body and eating healthy. In the inside, feeling unhappy, angry at the world, feeling anxiety, like a looser, unworthy, like I was nobody, I felt like a complete failure. And this was eating me completely day-by-day, year-by-year inside.
My own personal twin flame journey kicked off my spiritual awakening sending me on a deep transformation journey, being it the catalyst to awaken me to life itself and to the person who wants to create change. Almost 10 years went by navigating my dark night of the soul and I wanted to experience what it means to feel good physically, emotionally, mentally and spiritually. I wanted to heal, to transform, to be myself again. I developed a keen connection with the natural wold, with the most vulnerable, with animals and the environment.
I wanted to create a world where everyone is free from emotional trauma, limiting beliefs, physical illnesses and lifetimes of human conditioning. A place where no one is afraid to be who they want to be, can find their purpose, create a vision, and get on mission to build something big. A world where each person develops higher levels of consciousness and each person feels a deep emotional responsibility for the conservation of the natural world, high-quality products, natural beauty, and the extension of the life cycles of our limited natural resources.
I saw a world where we are deeply connected to who we are, to our roots, to our countries, to our history, cultures and traditions. A world where curiosity is driven by the quest of knowledge and growth, where we are emotionally connected through adventures, travel and discovering planet Earth. A place where people understands that good nutrition is not only about their physical bodies, but it is about their gut-brain and the entire world. Where they can consciously defend life from capitalistic food supply chains, animal cruelty and the destruction of the environment.
In my heart, I wanted to create a world world where people celebrates life, their experiences, growth and contributions, their passions, their successes and also celebrate their failures. Where people feels free to fearlessly develop their talents and the things they are really good at, are free to believe in their values and what is important to them. I envisioned a world where people are passionate about the things they care about, where people are strong about the things they don’t want, and people transact with fairness, integrity and transparency with all self, others and the planet.
This was the beginning of my mission to inspire people to develop higher levels of consciousness about the human experience, in order to create impact and contribution, so that together we can elevate the planet.
On a personal level it feels really good to be living your values and bringing them into what we do, allowing them to inform the products we make and how we make them. It enhances everything we do by making it even more personal to you, even more meaningful, even more in tune with who you are, what you value, what you believe in, and what you are willing to make a stand for.
